Registrar's Office

Diploma Services

The Registrar’s Office oversees the distribution of university diplomas, in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). All diplomas are prepared and mailed within sixty (60) days after degree conferral.

The student name that will appear on the official CIAM diploma will match the student’s name as it appears on their legal ID. Students who wish to change their name as it appears must submit a form of government-authorized identification to [email protected]. The name change request must be completed before the student has graduated.

Conferral of Degrees

A degree becomes official when it is posted to the student’s transcript. A student must complete a graduation application so that the Registrar’s Office can verify graduation requirements completion and subsequently post the degree on the transcript. Degrees are awarded three times each year at CIAM, January 15th, May 15th, and September 15th (policy effective May 1, 2020). All diplomas are prepared and mailed within sixty (60) days after degree conferral to the most current address provided by the student.

Students must apply for conferral of a graduate degree by filing an Application for Graduation during the term in which they expect to be awarded a degree. CIAM, however, reserves the right to confer a degree on a student who has completed all of the requirements for a degree, even though the student has not applied to graduate.

Students who wish to withdraw a request for conferral or make changes to the Graduation Application should notify the Registrar’s Office in writing by the deadline which is the 1st of the month prior to the degree conferral date (i.e. January 1st, May 1st, and September 1st). Students who withdraw their graduation applications or fail to meet degree requirements must reapply to graduate in a subsequent term.

Diploma Fees

Upon conferral of the degree, students are provided with a copy of their official transcript and diploma at no cost. Students and alumni requesting additional copies of their diploma must do so online in their Populi account or in writing to the Registrar’s Office and pay a $50.00 fee for each diploma. The full fee is payable by cash, credit card or check made out to CIAM. Priority/Express shipping will be available at an additional cost.
