    Jennie Ta

    President/CEO

    Jennie Ta is a co-founder of CIAM. She served as CIAM’s Vice President of Administration/CFO since January 2015, having previously served as Director of Administration/CFO since January 2011. In both capacities, she oversaw the Accreditation, Accounting, Admissions, Career Services, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Registrar and other Administrative departments.Prior to joining CIAM, she had many leadership roles at Real Mex Restaurants. Starting with her role at the restaurant level, as Assistant Manager and climbing the ranks to Assistant General Manager. She was responsible for all aspects of operations such as training, profit and loss, administration, inventory control, and more. Her hands-on approach boosted employee morale as well as developed new and existing customer loyalty, which lead to increased sales. She moved to a corporate assignment at Real Mex Foods, where she reported to the Vice President of Accounting as the Accounting Manager. Here, she oversaw 200 major distribution centers and retail outlet accounts where she and her team managed accounts that totaled over $3 million in receivables per month. Prior to that, Jennie was Coordinator in the Tuition Assistance department at Touro University International (now Trident University), and then was promoted to Advisor in the Financial Aid department, which at the time had approximately 5,000 students. She has experience in administrative and organizational management in different industries for well over a decade. She was one of five finalists out of 256 nominees as a  “Rising Star”  at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s  2013 Women Making A Difference Awards. She earned her MBA in 2013.

    Kien Tiet, Esq.

    CFO

    Mr. Tiet has over 10 years of experience in finance and over 21 years of experience in law.  He has held positions of CFO, COO, General Counsel and Executive Director for businesses in manufacturing, oil and gas and rail car repair service respectively.  He also has a successful business law practice with renown clients both domestically and abroad.  Mr. Tiet holds a Juris Doctorate and LL.M in Taxation from Loyola Marymount University, a M.B.A. from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science in Math Applied Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.

    Vice President / CAO / Director of Institutional Research

    Combining academic disciplines of science and business, Dr. McLaughlin’s consulting projects span the private and not-for-profit sectors of health care management. He has consulted and provided financial management training for major corporations throughout the United States and the world. Sought after for his dymanic presentation style and his ability to translate difficult concepts into understandable terms, he has worked with professionals ranging from healthcare managers to physicians to CEO’s of major corporations. Administrative positions held include Professor of Finance, Real Estate and Law; Director of Graduate Programs, and Associate Dean for Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and Adjunct Professor of Nursing and Public Health at UCLA.

    Dr. Amar has been Dean at three Universities including Dean of the College of Business and Management at West Coast University, Academic Dean at New West Coast University, and Executive Director & Dean at Advanced Colleges of America. As an academic administrator, he has held both professorial and executive positions at a number of universities including Director of Academic Administration, Director of Education, Director of Academic Development, and Executive Director and managed a budget of $9 million. He has evaluated universities for accreditation in the U.S., Puerto Rico, & Europe, and has presented various workshops & seminars abroad in Asia including China, Taiwan, & India.

    Ms. Sarabia has over 10 years of experience in office administration and data management in the areas of commercial real estate, banking, arts non-profit, and city government. At General Growth Properties she managed special projects and systematized data management for the top three leasing professionals nationwide. Additionally, she has a strong customer service background having worked with various commercial and retail companies. On graduation from CIAM, she was hired as Executive Assistant to the V.P. of Administration and Assistant Director of Organizational Development.

    Dr. Kirkland has taught at the United States Military Academy, the University of Southern California, Claremont McKenna College, and Trident University International. His academic awards include the Leo Codd Memorial Award as instructor of the year for all Army ROTC programs in the United States and the Hubert Herring Award presented by the Pacific Coast Council of Latin American Studies for singular contributions to the organization. He served over 25 years in the active duty Army culminating as the Army ROTC Professor of Military Science at the University of Southern California from 2010-2013.

    Dr. Dorsett received his D.B.A. in International Business from Argosy University and an M.B.A. from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. He brings over 30 years of business experience spanning a broad range of industries in Fortune 500 companies including Rockwell, Harris Corporation, and Avery International in a variety of positions including Contract Administrator, Comptroller, Product Manager and Director of Planning and Development. He has also participated in several start-ups including a mortgage software development company that was the first to create the back-office document process on a PC. Dr. Dorsett spent the last dozen of his corporate years working in a 100% employee-owned company where he became a staunch advocate of the ownership philosophy which posits positive gains in job satisfaction, motivation, organizational commitment, and employee wealth, as well as organizational profitability. Over the last 17 years, Dr. Dorsett has served as a full-time professor at Westwood College where he taught a variety of business courses including both financial and cost accounting, as well as finance; then joining CIAM teaching International Business, Finance, and Accounting for Decision-Making. Dr. Dorsett is a member of the Academy of Management.

    Dr. Johnson has been a consultant and contract executive for thirty years. His most recent executive assignment was as Chief Administrative Officer for Praxis Associates, a fiber optics engineering and construction company, where he built the Procurement, HR, and legal departments from scratch, oversaw the awarding of $40 million in contracts and the hiring of 70 engineers, managers, and administrators. Over the years Dr. Johnson has consulted in several industries (including the public sector), specializing in change management, organizational development, project management, statistical process control, and financial modeling, circumnavigating the globe six times in the process. In the course of his career, he pioneered the organizational development function at Beckman Instruments, played a key role in the transformation of Pacific Bell following its divestiture from AT&T, and continued to serve other large telecommunications companies as both an organizational and statistical control consultant for two decades. He has served as an interim COO for two companies, including a garment manufacturer in Madagascar employing over 4,000 employees. His primary research interest is the relationship between leadership behavior and effort supply. He is currently writing a book on this topic.     Ms. Li has 8 years of professional media experience as a TV executive in China. During the production of a televised charity event, she organized a media aid project / fundraiser that raised $150,000 for 6,000 children with cerebral palsy. As an assistant counselor, Ms. Li assisted over 600 international and domestic students at California State University, Northridge, with their transition from their respective community colleges to CSUN. Ms. Li also has experience as a Chinese program coordinator at a Chinese language school in Los Angeles and was also a business assistant at the University Student Union, Inc. at CSUN and won an award for the most inspirational student assistant employee of the year.

    Jesse Fagerhaugh

    Mr. Fagerhaugh has over 10 years of education experience including teaching TOEFL, student and career services, accreditation, and international marketing to promote study abroad options.  He has spent 8 years abroad in over 85 countries working, travelling, and volunteering in addition to assisting students pursue their education and career goals abroad.   Jesse recently started the international recruiting business unit for a creative media college where students from over 25 countries have gone on to win numerous awards including Grammy’s for their work in the music industry. Jesse has a passion for travel, music, knowledge, and new experiences in addition to believing that cultural experiences are the best way to learn and grow as individuals.

    Mrs. Myers has over 20+ years’ experience in higher education management and Instructor. She acknowledges that education is the pathway success. Positions she has held in the past are Assistant Director of Admissions for several small colleges, Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Manager for University of Phoenix, Business Development Specialist for Walden University. Plus, she has severed on numerous boards such as Community Chest, Kids n Co, Depressive and Manic Depressive Association where her heart is to serve the unfortunate.     Ms. Scott has 3+ years of professional experience working with event graphics and as a freelance designer. As a Community and Student Life Advocate she worked to plan events for over 1,500 residents, which promoted community and encouraged college students to get involved on campus. Ms. Scott also has experience as a newsletter editor and designer for the University Village at Cal Poly Pomona. Ms. Scott was chosen to participate in the invitation only Cal Poly Pomona 2013 “Mentor’s All Stars Exhibition.” She collaborated with two other students to create a spinning 3-demential photo-manipulation piece. She was also featured in the Edge of the Outback 2014 Gallery in Mildura, Australia, where her piece was purchased.

    Mr. Lee is a graduate of CIAM, obtaining his MBA in 2014. He has had job experience in a variety of fields over the course of his professional career, from management, to marketing, to media management, and web development. Entering the workforce at a young age, Mr. Lee is equipped with over 10 years of extensive business experience, quick thinking, and a “git ’er done” attitude. He strongly believes that success is not a given, but rather earned through perseverance, flexibility, and an open mind. In 2013, Mr. Lee joined, managed, and operated a business in the powersports industry that grew to a multi-million-dollar operation during his 3-year tenure. Today, Mr. Lee has joined CIAM because of his strong belief of what school stands for: a revolution in education.

    Dr. Albert Randall received his MD from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and New York Medical College. He also received an Executive Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, California.  Dr. Randall, a combat aviator in the F4 Phantom II, retired as a Colonel from the United States Air Force after thirty years of service.  Dr. Randall also retired from Northrup Grumman Corporation after twelve years as an aerospace executive. He also served five years as a deputy bureau chief for the Department of Public Aid, State of Illinois, and State of Illinois.

    Minglo Shao

    Chairman of the Board

    Mr. Shao is the founder and Chairman of Bright China Group, an investment group that operates in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and major cities around China. Through Bright China Group, Mr. Shao also heads the Peter F. Drucker Academy, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to researching and teaching Drucker’s management ideas in China. The Peter F. Drucker Academy teaches in 32 cities in China and Hong Kong and has more than 50,000 graduates. Mr. Shao founded and provided the grant funding for the start of CIAM.

    Yeh Wah Chong

    Board Member

    Ms. Yeh Wah Chong is an exceptional artist who produces sculptures done completely in silk. Her work covers the full spectrum from antiquity to modern times in China and shows a full range of expression from daily work life to the leisurely activities of her subjects, and includes satire and politics. Yeh Wah Chong brings a unique perspective to her work which has also contributed significantly to the foundations and companies launched and managed by her husband, Minglo Shao, in both the U.S. and China.

    Frances Hesselbein

    Board Member

    Ms. Frances Hesselbein is the President and CEO of The Frances Hesselbein Leader Institute. She rose from volunteer troop leader to CEO where she held the position of CEO for fourteen years at the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. She held the Class of 1951 Chair for the Study of Leadership at the United States Military Academy at West Point, the 1st Leadership Chair at West Point. In 1998, Frances Hesselbein was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor, at the White House for her work as “a pioneer for women, volunteerism, diversity and opportunity.”

    Edwin Hullander is a former Senior Economist U.S. AID and former professor of George Washington University and National Defense University. He directed Special Action Group for Public Diplomacy in the Department of Defense during the Gulf War. He was the Associate Assistant Administrator for Policy, Programs, and Project Review, Coordinator for Counter Terrorism and Senior Economist U.S. Agency for International Development.

    Board Member

    Brigadier General Leonard Kwiatkowski, USAF, Ret. headed a number of space programs in the Air Force including Program Director of a major space communications program, the Military Satellite Communications Joint Program Office. He was Executive Vice President of Programs for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Division, Deputy to the President of the Space Systems Company, VP and General Manager of the Global Communications Systems line of business and Director of Quality and Mission Success.

    Francisco Suárez Hernández is the Director of New Business Projects for FEMSA. FEMSA is one of the largest corporations in Mexico, the largest beverage company in Latin America and the largest Coca Cola Bottling Company in the world in additional to many other operations. Prior to his present position, he was Director of Sustainability for FEMSA at the corporate level. He is a member of the Board of PLEI (International Student Leadership Program) of Tecnológico de Monterrey. He spent the first 20 years of his career as a reporter, editor, and columnist for The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times. Rick writes a monthly column for Fortune magazine online. He's also the editor of Drucker: A Life in Pictures and The Drucker Lectures: Essential Lessons on Management, Society, and Economy.     Danny Yu is the key executive in three NGOs. In 1980 he established Educational Services Exchange with China (ESEC), a non-profit organization for promoting Sino-American educational exchanges and training services. Its English training program has worked with China's Ministry of Education and Academy of Sciences for the English training of thousands of overseas-bound government officials, scholars, scientists, professionals and business executives. Recently Dr. Yu developed new methods of student-centered learning which are being tested throughout China.
